When Rotorua District Council decided to undertake an ambitious multimillion dollar project to transform Eat Streat into a stunning all-weather venue, the architect chose ClearVue Roofing System as the best solution.

The project was a close collaboration between PSP and the architect, ensuring that the spectacular design was achievable within the client's budget, while still creating a unique design statement for Rotorua, one of New Zealand's favourite tourist destinations.

The end result is an iconic sculptural design spanning over 90 metres in length, bridging the centre space of the existing street. It offers locals and tourists alike a haven in any weather conditions, with access to an exciting array of dining and entertainment venues.

The design flexibility achieved using the ClearVue Roofing System meant that the architect was able to attain optimum light transmission of 90% and UV protection of 99% under the glazed roof. ClearVue roofing panels weigh less than 50% of the equivalent glass panel, so expensive heavy duty structural support wasn’t necessary for this project.

The Eat Streat Canopy offers an ambiance which feels incredibly open and light during the day, while moody lighting effects create an ethereal experience by night.
