May 2007

May marks two great milestones for eboss:
1. We launched our new website based on your feedback
2. We’ve reached 4000 registered users.

The new website incorporates the features you told us you’d like to see.

Now when you visit eboss you’ll enjoy the ease of our automatic login designed to give you quicker access to the information you need. Based on your feedback we’ve introduced ‘practice focus’ featuring a range of articles on areas of importance for your professional practice. This month we focus on technology; in particular BIM (Building Information Modelling). Check out ‘My Library’ – you can now create your own personal library of the products you use frequently.

Next month will be a little different. We’re introducing two separate issues of ebossNOW, one focusing on Interior news the other on Enclosure & Structural products. Use MY ACCOUNT  to select which you would prefer, or do nothing to receive both.

In June we’ll also include a special BuildNZ edition, giving you an exclusive preview of the great new products & technology that will be on display. Whether you’re going to BuildNZ or not, ebossNOW will deliver the overview of the industries leading suppliers, straight to your inbox.

Kind regards,

Pink® Batts® Barriers® - Warmfoot® Underfloor Heating
It’s well known that a warm home is indeed a comfortable and healthy home. With the colder weather comes an increased realisation of how a cold floor surface can affect the overall warmth of a home. To counteract this problem in existing as well as new homes Pink® Batts® Barriers® has developed Warmfoot®.

Warmfoot® is a perforated foil for underfloor insulation; it is designed to be used in suspended timber floor construction and provides the following benefits:
Superior insulation. If installed inline with manufacturers instruction (included in each pack) an R –Value of 2.5 can be achieved.
Easy to install. Pre-cut to handy 1350mm x 500mm sheets.
Can be fitted to new and existing homes
Cost effective.
Low volume packaging ensures the product is easy to transport and handle.
Provides an attractive finish.

Warmfoot® means warm feet. Select Residential within our Technical Manual for more information

InSinkErator® introduces the Trash Compactor
An InSinkErator® Trash compactor reduces the volume of packaging waste to a quarter of its original size.

Packaging waste such as cans and bottles can take up a lot of space both inside and outside the home. The compactor takes care of this problem by simply compressing packaging waste to around a quarter of its original volume into an easy-to-handle bag which, when full, can be conveniently taken outside. The compactor can be used “free standing” or in fitted kitchen where it fits comfortably under a regular work surface. It only requires a 400mm opening, and therefore takes up little space. The drawer can also take a matching décor or facia panel from the kitchen. For further information select Trash Compactors within our Technical Manual

Painting the town greener with Resene PaintWise
Resene is painting the town greener with the Resene PaintWise paint and paint packaging recovery programme, the first comprehensive New Zealand product stewardship programme for home decorators.

As an extension of the company’s commitment to the development of environmentally friendlier products and practices, Resene encourages paint users to minimise the effects of their decorating on the environment to bring in unwanted paint and paint packaging, any brand, to one of the Resene ColorShops designated PaintWise Collection centres. A PaintWise mobile truck service then visits the store and processes the materials received before returning to its depot. Good quality paint is then provided free to community groups. Waterborne paint is used for other applications such as covering graffiti, solventborne paint goes through a solvent recovery programme and metal packaging is recycled.

For more information, visit out technical Manual & select PaintWise within our Environmental considerations section

Rockcote’s Milano MarbleStone
Rockcote systems’ recently introduced the Milano range of interior finishes to New Zealand, designed and made in Italy, using premium Italian marble and lime. A recently completed interior fireplace in KeriKeri, Northland used Rockcote’s 'Milano' Italian interior plaster finish.

The Milano MarbleStone was precoloured with Resene’s half Masala and applied by hand over a prepared level 4 gib board surface. The visual effect of this type of plaster finish is astounding. The highly polished, patinaed surface is as smooth as glass. The final wax finish provides an easy to clean, and stain resistance not available with conventional interior plaster finishes.

The Rockcote Milano MarbleStone System incorporates the latest technology providing a low maintenance, versatile finish which will enhance the interior of any project.

Update on Nu-Wall BRANZ Appraisals
BRANZ has allocated Appraisal no. 550 to Nu-Wall, relating to horizontal installation of Nu-Wall cladding over a drained and vented cavity. This Appraisal covers use of the product within the full scope of the Weather-tightness Risk Factors defined in Section 3.0 of Clause E2/AS1 of the New Zealand Building Code.

Additional Appraisals will be issued subsequently; these relate to direct-fixing of the cladding in both horizontal and vertical orientations. The extruded aluminium sections are extremely durable and the finishes applied, ensure the product will remain attractive for years, even in coastal situations. If you’re looking to design for a weather-tight future – specify Nu-Wall.
