Re-cladding with Nu-Wall |
Nu-Wall has become the cladding of
choice for many specifiers and owners faced with remedying the
problem of a leaky building. The weatherboard-type system offers a
stylish, weather-tight solution for re-cladding, with a wide range
of profiles and finishes to suit all types of building designs.
Depending upon the weather-tightness risk assessment of the
subject building, it may be feasible to consider direct-fixing of
the product. In such instances, with an overall thickness of only
15mm, the cladding may be able to be installed without the
necessity to remove and re-install window and door joinery. This
would certainly require some custom detailing of window and door
penetrations, with which we are able to provide assistance.
Nu-Wall is extremely robust and resistant to impact damage.
Furthermore, the aluminium will not rot, rust, crack, distort or
become brittle through UV degradation. |

Gerard Roofs - an Asian flavour |
In New Zealand, Gerard Roofs has recognised the
influence Chinese immigrants and nationals are having on the local
housing building industry, and after working with specialist “east
meets west” advertising agency Brand Works, has developed a
marketing campaign specifically for this growing market. Gerard
Roofs believes that the Chinese community potentially represents a
high value market niche for Gerard Pressed Metal Tiles.
In order to take the Gerard Roofs’ message to the Chinese
Community a brochure in Mandarin has been produced and the Gerard
Roofs team has been network marketing across the Auckland Region.
Already Gerard Roofs are quoting a number of projects and have
requests from designers and developers to call and make
presentations. They say an estimate that Chinese builders and
developers build 500 houses in the Auckland region each year looks
conservative – making the community an important one to promote
Gerard Roofs to. |

Autex announce colour change for Sound Blankets |
Autex Sound Blanket (ASB)
is 100% polyester acoustic insulation blanket designed
specifically for use in metal stud partition walls.
Due to the increasing number of generic white polyester partition
blankets entering the market, Autex have decided to colour their
Autex Sound Blanket (ASB). From 1st March 2007, ASB will be lilac
in colour to differentiate from other products in the market,
providing confidence that the desired acoustic performance will be
achieved.
Autex have been manufacturing ASB in New Zealand for 10 years,
with proven and trusted performance. Many other products competing
with ASB have little proven performance and we do not believe they
can be substituted to provide the same level of performance
confidence. All polyester insulations are not made equal! Changes
in fibre type, fibre size and blends will dramatically affect the
acoustic and thermal performance of the material.

Services on 0800 428 839 or contact your Autex Insulation Account

Thermal Heart Expedition Reaches the Pole
Construction industry player Architectural Profiles Ltd (APL) saw an
early end to its polar expedition sponsorship when Kiwi trekkers Kevin
Biggar and Jamie Fitzgerald were forced to end their Antarctic journey
at the half way stage.
The Thermal Heart polar expedition, named after APL’s forthcoming
thermally efficient suite of windows and doors, ended in early January
when Biggar and Fitzgerald reached the South Pole in near record time.
They were forced to abandon the return journey back to the coast
because of injury – Jamie developed severe hamstring strain over the
latter stages of their arduous man-haul and the two brought the
expedition to an early conclusion on medical advice.
Their 52 days of trekking made them this season’s fastest unsupported
man-haul to the pole (adjusted for start point) and the second fastest
ever. They might have rewritten the record books if their sleds had
not been weighed down by provisions carried for the return journey.
Some other trekkers following the same route around the same time
abandoned their journey before reaching the pole because of frostbite
suffered in the severe weather conditions which were encountered.
Speaking in a Radio NZ interview on their return to Auckland, Kevin
Biggar said that the pair had trained hard for the journey but did not
imagine in their worst expectations that the haul would be as hard as
it turned out. During their particularly difficult first week the tow
ropes to their heavy sleds had kept breaking, such was the difficulty
encountered in pulling in the unexpectedly soft snow.
Shane Walden, Marketing Manager for APL, said that he was pleased with
the visibility that the expedition had given the Thermal Heart brand
and congratulated Kevin and Jamie on their hard earned achievement.
The Thermal Heart range will be launched in March through Altherm,
First and Vantage window manufacturers.
