ModWood Decking for Auckland Residential Renovation

The owners, a busy working couple with young children who spend a lot of time away during the colder winter months, were adamant they did not want to be spending their leisure time maintaining a timber deck, even though they loved the timber aesthetic.

The client brief was simple, says outdoor designer Rob Hills of Lindstorm Design. "We wanted to have a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living that only decks can really provide, but we didn’t want the up-keep of real wood."

"The client really wanted a low maintenance exterior that looked good and performed well for the long term," adds Hills. "We created the perfect solution when we used ModWood WPC Decking – it ticks all the boxes for this client."

Supplied by Buildpro, Modwood is made from a combination of sawdust and recycled plastic wood containers, and offered this Auckland residential property an eco-friendly, Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) solution.

Buildpro owner Rodney McVicar says Modwood have put a lot of effort over many years into creating a product that looks and feels like real wood.

"It has all the advantages of WPC, in that it won't twist, split, bend or rot whilst being low maintenance, eco-friendly and is very competitively priced against hardwoods like kwila," says McVicar.

ModWood Decking comes in a range of sizes, colours and finishes, providing the ability to create residential or commercial projects to suit the function and style of choice. Approximately 90 per cent of materials used are either recycled or reclaimed, and installation is made easy with long straight set-length packs, which reduces on-site wastage.

"ModWood is the most recognised WPC brand in Australasia because it has been manufactured 'Down Under' for 'Down Under' conditions. It has been tested in New Zealand to ensure it meets our tough NZBC requirements making it the WPC decking of choice for Kiwis," adds McVicar.
