Snaptex for Challenging, Curved Acoustic Solutions

Architecturally interesting buildings often come with challenging interior spaces such as concave or convex walls, exposed structural pillars and braces.

Asona's Snaptex can deliver innovative acoustic solutions to such complex interior spaces, as displayed by its use at the ASB North Harbour head quarters building and Sky Tower restaurant The Sugar Club.

Snaptex is available in a wide range of decorative finishes and can be custom-designed for challenging spaces. The system comprises a fabric tensioning track fixed to the wall, and a fire-resistant glass fibre board with an impact-resistant Sonatex 250 acoustic facer, finished with a decorative fabric stretched with Snaptex track.

CPRW Fisher Architects selected Asona's Snaptex to cover the curved meeting rooms housed within the Media Pod at the ASB head quarters, built by Jones & Sandford Joinery.

Comprised of flexible Triton 50 acoustic panels and overlaid with a 3mm Sonatex composite acoustic sheet finish, this custom-made system was then wrapped in vibrant textila fabrics and edged-fixed into a QuickLock fabric track. The panel components were pre-manufactured in the Asona factory and assembled on site.

The Sugar Club, a restaurant by acclaimed chef Peter Gordon located on level 53 of the Sky Tower, also improved the level of acoustic comfort for their patrons by incorporating Asona's Snaptex.

Comprised of pre-fabricated curved acoustic wall panels with a composite impact layer, this system was then wrapped in the luscious Avalanche Mink premium fabric by acclaimed designer Andrew Martin. The overall effect created smooth and sleek feature walls that follow the curve of the Sky Tower and enhance the fine dining experience.
