Asona's Triton 25 for Auckland War Memorial Library and School

Architects Jasmax selected Asona's Triton 25 (600 x 2400mm tiles) for the pitch roof ceilings of the new Wellsford War Memorial Library in Auckland. The high NRC 0.95, group 1S fire rating and the smooth reflective white of the Sonatex composite facing made Triton 25 a clear solution.

This also displayed Asona's ability to produce custom-sized perimeter panels to eliminate the need for an unsightly 100mm edge cut panel – where the ceiling meets the walls – producing a cleaner result.

Designed and constructed by ASC architects and Hawkins Construction, Auckalnd's Hobsonville Point Intermediate School – one of the first public-private partnership (PPP) schools in New Zealand – also used a modified grid and tile ceiling system developed and manufactured by Asona.

Rather than use the standard 600 x 1200 modules, which would result in untidy small cut panels, Asona produced made-to-measure Triton 25 plank modules to fit in seamlessly with the architect's skylight layouts. This approach allowed for more skylights to be incorporated into the building and thus conveyed a greater amount of natural light into the teaching areas and laneways, while still controlling the reverberation and background noise levels.

All of Asona's Triton range of products have the highest group fire rating of 1S, low VOCs, high in acoustic performance and contain 80 per cent recycled content and feature a recycle and renew programme for long term sustainability.
